Frequently Ask Questions
🩺 Do I need travel health insurance for this trip?
We strongly recommend that all participants have international health insurance.
If you live in the European Union, make sure to request your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), it allows you to access urgent medical care while abroad.
It’s free and can be requested online through your national health service.
🚲 Should I be careful with bikes in Amsterdam?
In Amsterdam, bikes rule the road — they have priority over cars and pedestrians.
Bike lanes are everywhere, and cyclists often appear out of nowhere!
A few important tips:
-
Never walk on the bike lanes (they’re often red or separated from the sidewalk).
-
Look both ways before crossing — bikes can come from any direction.
-
Even when standing still or taking photos, make sure you’re not blocking a bike lane.
🌿 Can I smoke weed in the street in Amsterdam?
Contrary to popular belief, smoking cannabis in public spaces is forbidden in Amsterdam.
Consumption is only tolerated inside licensed coffee shops.
Police can issue fines if you smoke in parks, on sidewalks, or in the streets.
🧳 Can I bring luggage with me?
Yes! Each participant can bring one piece of luggage. We just ask that you be reasonable, we're going away for 3 days 😉!!
🛏️ How are the rooms organized?
Room allocation will be done by the participants themselves.
A shared document will be provided so everyone can indicate who they’d like to share a room with (mixed room allowed).
Rooms are available for 4 or 6 people.
Only complete rooms (fully filled) will be confirmed for the booking.
Towels and bed linen are included in the rooms
🍻 Is the Porte Maillot pre-departure aperitif mandatory?
No, it’s completely optional!
This street aperitif at Porte Maillot is a fun way for participants to meet each other before the trip in a relaxed setting.
