DESCRIPTION & SCHEDULE
D&E invites you for a one-day journey in Rouen, Haute-Normandie, a town full of history.
Indeed, in 1431, Joan of Arc was burnt to death in Rouen. Moreover we will see the Old-Market place where the Joan of Arc's pyre is located. Also, we will pay a visit to Joan of Arc Church (with its atypical old normand church form which looks like a overturned boat)
We will visit Joan of Arc Tower as well (which is free for the students). This is where Joan of Arc's trial took place.
For the bravest of you, the Fair Saint-Romain (second biggest fair in France after the Paris' fair) and its 200 attractions will enlighten the left bank quays.
A lot more to discover throughout the day:
- The 'Great-Clock street' (rue du Gros-Horloge) with its famous Great Clock
- The Cathedral of Notre Dame (most prestigious monument of the town)
- The abbatial church of Saint-Ouen (classified historical monument)
- Gustave Flaubert bridge....
Rouen is also known as an impressionist city which inspired numerous painters such as Monet, Gauguin, Pissarro ou Sisley.
